TREE TRIMMING & SHRUB PRUNING

It is an investment to care for and prune your trees and shrubs (See What's Your Tree Worth?).  There are three main reasons why you might choose to prune your trees: safety, health and aesthetics (Figure 1).  It is essential that trees be pruned at the right time of year and only just outside the branch collar to allow the tree’s natural protection and healing mechanisms to be effective (Figure 2& 3).

Do NOT prune oak trees during the months of April, May, June and July. These are peak activity months for the beetles known to transmit the deadly vascular fungus known as Oak Wilt from tree to tree.  Fresh cuts during this period make an oak more attractive to the insect. If you must prune, or if your oak suffers unavoidable damage during a storm, Majestic will make the proper pruning cut and seal the wound professionally to protect the tree.

Be careful! Professional equipment and expertise are required to safely prune even small trees.  Majestic is licensed and outfitted to properly prune and remove most trees and shrubs. For large tree removals, Majestic will subcontract with a fully bonded professional at no extra charge.
